Today's installment of Celeb Blissfiles is brought to you by Tina Bambina, PGL junior staff member.
Arabian Prince, formerly of NWA, was DJing at X & Y in the valley. Spinning classic hip hop, including Sir Mix-A-Lot's classic I Like Big Butts, the memorable tunes kept on flowin' all night long. At the end of the night, Tina walked up to the stage, gripping a pen she had dug up from her bag and a piece of receipt paper from the EFTPOS machine at the bar.
"Excuse me?" she said nervously. "Would it be okay if I got an autograph?"
Expecting a shrug-off, or, at best, a scrawled autograph with her name spelt wrong, she was instead greeted by Arabian Prince gazing at her from under his cap, brim pulled down low.
"Of course" he said, voice low and husky. "Step up here with me."
She did so, then asked if it would be too far for him to write down 'Let's Hit the Beach', in homage to her favorite song of his. He looked up momentarily, apparently surprised that she was familiar with his song from decades before. He signed his name with a smiley face at the end. It was almost too much too bear.
"Will you be in Brisbane tomorrow?" she asked, making conversation.
"No" he replied.
"Oh" she replied.
"But.....I can give you my phone number?"
"I......Uh.....What?! No, I just meant.....I work.... in a record store. But..... thank you!!!!"
Cool as a cucumber kept in the freezer, he shrugged and said "That's okay."
For the next several weeks, nothing else came out of her mouth, except "So Arabian Prince played at X & Y the other week, and....."
